What is a Service, and what is a Product?
Services
Services are designed to be used exclusively for NDIS Support Items from the NDIS Support Item catalogue. When adding one, you choose from the current list of support items.
Products
A product is used for anything else you want to be able to repeatedly add to invoices that doesn't appear in the NDIS Support Item catalogue.
Product's are significantly more customizable than services, as you can set the price, description, category, SKU, and tax type.
Can I use a product as a service?
Technically, yes.
You could add a product and use details from the NDIS support item catalogue, similar to how you would in Xero, Quickbooks, Reckon, etc.
However, we don't usually recommend this as you won't be able to use the product on Shift Notes or save custom rates for it. This is exclusive to services.
